Welcome! You are probably now a resident of beautiful Madison Alabama. And maybe you are trying to get to know your community but find that people aren’t readily knocking at your door to offer you some cupcakes. Well, how about some virtual neighbors in the same sense?

It’s a Social Network

There are many social networks and platforms out there but what Next Door focuses on is community.

It’s kind of like an online version of your neighborhood and those around you.

Word of warning is that although it is an online community, you’ll discover that people are very open about their political preference, among other things, and sometimes get into these virtual scuffles. And there might be trolls and keyboard warriors.

So as with every other social network, use it at your discretion.

Examples of posts that you’ll find is… Has someone seen my dog? My son just graduated and is looking for a job? Does anyone know what’s going on at [neighborhood] because there is a big police presence? Thank you to the man that returned my wallet. The food at [restaurant] was soooo delicious, you have to try it! Etc.

How to Use Next Door?

Once you sign up, you can create messages to communicate with your own subdivision, nearby neighborhoods and the general public.

You can also post ads on items you’d like to sell or give away for free.

There are also groups of common interest that you can join. For example, there is one for Plantswaps. If you like plants, you might want to join it.

Summary

As much as people like to gossip, complain and air out their dirty laundry, let’s try to be better people and do less of that.

Please add value by providing factual information, helping others with great recommendations and trying to keep everything in a positive light.
